Fergus Whalers win first two games of the season

The Fergus Whalers will be starting in the PJHL for the 2023/2024 season.

FERGUS – Fergus’ new Provincial Junior Hockey League team kicked-off its inaugural regular season on the winning side of things. 

The Fergus Whalers won twice over the weekend both away and on home ice. 

On Saturday, the Whalers came out on top against the Mount Forest Patriots with a 2-1 overtime win at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.

The Patriots put a lot of shots on net in the game but Fergus’ goalie Bradley Boville stopped 56 of 57 shots on net.

This was followed up by the Whalers on Sunday at its first home game with a 5-4 win over the Mitchell Hawks.

The Fergus Whalers’ next game is Friday on the road against the Wingham Ironmen at the North Huron Wescast Community Centre starting at 8 p.m. The team is at home again on Sunday against the Kincardine Bulldogs at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex starting at 3 p.m.
