Youth soccer in Elora and Fergus has been cancelled Tuesday night.

It's due to the air quality deteriorating in the area because of forest fire smoke from northern Ontario and Quebec.

A representative from Fergus-Elora District Soccer Club said it has sent a message to members.

Wellington County is under an air quality statement due to the forest fires. Environment Canada has recommended a stop to outdoor activities as a result.

"High levels of air pollution are possible due to smoke from forest fires," says Environment Canada.

"Wildfire smoke can be harmful to everyone’s health even at low concentrations. Continue to take actions to protect your health and reduce exposure to smoke."
