On the ice: how Wellington County hockey teams did last weekend

Weekly wrap-up on the wins and losses from the Elora Rocks, Fergus Whalers, Mount Forest Patriots, Erin Outlaws and Minto 81's

Elora Rocks

The Elora Rocks lost at home on Friday 5-4 against the Dunville Aeros. 

The team is eighth out of 10 teams in the Western Ontario Super Hockey League standings. 

The Rocks play twice this upcoming weekend, first on Friday at home against the Strathroy Jets and then in Alvinston against the Killer Bees on Saturday. 

Fergus Whalers

The Fergus Whalers came up short twice over the weekend, first losing 4-1 in an away game against the Wingham Ironmen and then 3-2 on Sunday at home against the Mount Forest Patriots.

The Whalers are sixth out of eight teams in the PJHL’s North Pollock division standings. 

The team hits the ice next on Wednesday in Walkerton against the Capitals and then are on the road again Saturday for a match against the Mitchell Hawks. 

Mount Forest Patriots

On top of the team’s win against the Whalers, Mount Forest also won in Mitchell 6-2 on Saturday. 

The Patriots are second out of eight teams in the North Pollock division standings. 

Mount Forest has two more games this year, first on Friday in Hanover against the Barons and then Saturday at home taking on the Goderich Flyers. 

Erin Outlaws

The Erin Outlaws lost at home on Sunday 6-4 against the Creemore Coyotes. 

Erin is tenth place out of 11 teams in the Ontario Elite Hockey League standings.

The team’s last game of the year is on Dec. 30 at home against the Georgian Bay Applekings.

Minto 81’s

Minto lost 5-3 against the Tavistock Royals in an away game on Saturday. 

The team is third out of 11 teams in the Ontario Elite Hockey League standings. 

The 81’s are back on the ice on Dec. 30 against the Milverton Four Wheel Drives in Perth East.
