On the ice: how Wellington County hockey teams did last weekend

Weekly wrap-up on the wins and losses from the Elora Rocks, Fergus Whalers, Mount Forest Patriots, Erin Outlaws and Minto 81's

Elora Rocks

The Elora Rocks secured a road win on Saturday, beating the Dunnville Aeros 3-2. 

The team is eighth out of 11 teams in the Western Ontario Super Hockey League standings.

Elora is back at home Friday evening for a match against the Tillsonburg Thunder. The team will then be in Tilbury Saturday against the Bluebirds in an away game.

Fergus Whalers

Fergus got a pair of big wins over the weekend in two high-scoring games, first winning 11-1 against the Goderich Flyers on Saturday and then at home 8-4 against the Walkerton Capitals Sunday. 

Fergus is fifth out of eight teams in the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) North Pollock division standings. 

Another two game weekend is ahead for the Whalers, first in Kincardine Friday against the Bulldogs and then hosting the Mitchell Hawks Sunday afternoon at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex. 

Mount Forest Patriots

The Patriots started the weekend on Friday with a 5-3 win in Walkerton before falling short in overtime 6-5 against the Bulldogs at home on Sunday. 

Mount Forest is at the top of the standings in the North Pollock division. 

The team plays at home twice this weekend, first taking on the Hanover Barons on Saturday evening and then the Flyers Sunday afternoon. 

Erin Outlaws

The Outlaws lost on Sunday against the Tavistock Royals 6-3 in a road game. 

The team is tenth out of 11 teams in the Ontario Elite Hockey League (OEHL) standings.

Erin is on the road for two games, first Friday evening in Thornbury against  the Georgian Bay Applekings and then Sunday afternoon against the Milverton Four Wheel Drives. 

Minto 81’s

Minto lost at home Saturday 6-3 against the Durham Thundercats.

The team is fourth out of 11 teams in the OEHL standings. 

The Minto 81’s are on home ice again on Saturday taking on the Creemore Coyotes.
