On the ice: how Wellington County hockey teams did last weekend

Weekly wrap-up on the wins and losses from the Elora Rocks, Fergus Whalers, Mount Forest Patriots, Erin Outlaws and Minto 81's

Elora Rocks

Elora Rocks were shut out on the road against the Tilbury Bluebirds on Saturday, losing 6-0. 

The team is eighth out of 11 teams in the Western Ontario Super Hockey League standings. 

The Rocks are back at true home ice Friday evening at the Jefferson Elora Community Centre for the first time this season after the arena was renovated to face-off against the Petrolia Squires.

Fergus Whalers

A mixed bag weekend for the Whalers who lost 4-3 in Mount Forest against the Patriots on Saturday but then won the next day at home 6-5 over the Wingham Ironmen. 

Fergus is fourth out of eight teams in the PJHL’s North Pollock division standings. 

The Whalers play twice at home this upcoming weekend, first against the Hanover Barons Friday evening and then the Goderich Flyers Sunday afternoon.

Mount Forest Patriots

The Patriots also had an uneven weekend, first losing to the Barons 5-2 on Friday before securing the win over Fergus 4-3 on Saturday.

Mount Forest is second out of eight teams in the PJHL’s North Pollock division standings.

The team hosts the Mitchell Hawks on Saturday and then heads to Walkerton on Sunday to take on the Capitals. 

Erin Outlaws

Erin lost at home on Saturday 3-2 against the Lucknow Lancers. 

The Outlaws are eighth out of 11 teams in the Ontario Elite Hockey League (OEHL) standings.

The team plays at home again next Saturday against the Tavistock Royals.

Minto 81’s

Minto beat the Creemore Coyotes 5-3 on Saturday evening. 

The team is fourth out of 11 teams in the OEHL standings.

The 81’s play twice on the road next weekend against the Ripley Wolves on Saturday and the Coyotes on Sunday.
