On the ice: how Wellington County hockey teams did last weekend

Weekly wrap-up on the wins and losses from the Elora Rocks, Fergus Whalers, Mount Forest Patriots, Erin Outlaws and Minto 81's

Elora Rocks

The Rocks returned to home ice in a big way, winning 8-1 against the Petrolia Squires in the first game at Jefferson Elora Community Centre this season.

The team is eighth out of 11 teams in the Western Ontario Super Hockey League standings.

Elora next plays on Tuesday against the Tillsonburg Thunder on the road and then hosts the Delhi Flames at home on Friday evening.

Fergus Whalers

In a two game weekend both played on home ice, Fergus lost 8-4 on Friday against the Hanover Barons but then went on to win 7-1 against the Goderich Flyers on Sunday afternoon.

The Whalers are fourth out of eight teams in the PJHL’s North Pollock division standings.

The team hosts the Mount Forest Patriots at home on Sunday. 

Mount Forest Patriots

Mount Forest had a mixed weekend, first winning at home 8-4 against the Mitchell Hawks before falling short in Walkerton against the Capitals 4-1 on Sunday. 

The team is second out of eight teams in the PJHL’s North Pollock division standings.

The Patriots face-off against the Kincardine Bulldogs on Saturday before the battle of Highway 6 in Fergus on Sunday afternoon. 

Erin Outlaws

The Outlaws lost at home 1-0 against the Tavistock Royals on Saturday. 

The team is eighth out of 11 teams in the Ontario Elite Hockey League (OEHL) standings. 

Erin plays twice on the weekend, first against the Creemore Coyotes on Saturday in Creemore and then at home on Sunday against the Minto 81’s. 

Minto 81’s 

Minto won one and lost one on the road, first losing 5-4 against the Ripley Wolves on Saturday and then winning 3-1 in a match against the Coyotes.

The team is fourth out of 11 teams in the OEHL standings.

The team is in Erin on Sunday, facing off against the Outlaws.
