On the ice: how Wellington County hockey teams did this weekend

Weekly wrap-up on the wins and losses from the Elora Rocks, Fergus Whalers, Mount Forest Patriots, Erin Outlaws and Minto 81's

Elora Rocks

The Elora Rocks won two over the weekend, winning 6-4 against the Alvinston Killer Bees on home ice Friday and then coming out on top against the Woodstock Lakers 6-3 the following day. 

Elora is currently ranked fourth out of 11 teams in the Western Ontario Super Hockey League.

The team is back on the ice Saturday against the Blitz in Orangeville.

Fergus Whalers

The Fergus Whalers went winless over the weekend, first falling short 4-2 against the Mitchell Hawks on the road and then taking a loss 5-1 at home against the Kincardine Bulldogs.

The team is currently ranked seventh out of eight teams in the Provincial Junior Hockey League’s (PJHL) North Pollock division.

The Whalers hit the road on Saturday for a match against the Walkerton Capitals and then are back at home in Goderich against the Flyers.

Mount Forest Patriots

The Mount Forest Patriots also had a winless weekend, losing at home 3-2 against the Wingham Ironmen and then 4-3 in Goderich against the Flyers.

Right now, the team is ranked fourth out of eight teams in the PJHL’s North Pollock division. 

The Patriots play twice in the upcoming weekend against the Kincardine Bulldogs and then the Wingham Ironmen.

Erin Outlaws

Erin Outlaws got a win and a loss, besting the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks 6-5 on the road but then losing to the Seaforth Centenaires 6-2 at home. 

The team is ranked fifth out of 11 teams in the Ontario Elite Hockey League (OEHL).

The Outlaws will be on the road for a game on Saturday but staying in Wellington County as it plays the Minto 81’s in Palmerston.

Minto 81’s

The Minto 81’s won big over the weekend, shutting out the Georgian Bay Applekings 6-0 at home. 

The team is ranked seventh out of 11 teams in the OEHL.

The 81’s play at home twice this upcoming weekend against the Milverton Four Wheel Drives on Friday and the Outlaws on Saturday.
