On the ice: how Wellington County hockey teams did this weekend

Weekly wrap-up on the wins and losses from the Elora Rocks, Fergus Whalers, Mount Forest Patriots, Erin Outlaws and Minto 81's

Elora Rocks

The Rocks won big in a home-and-home against the Orangeville Blitz. The team started at home on Friday with a dominating 10-1 win before securing a 4-3 victory on the road the next day. 

The team is fifth out of 11 in the Western Ontario Super Hockey League standings.

Elora hits the road for a game Friday against the Petrolia Squires.

Fergus Whalers

The Fergus Whalers secured a win at home Sunday afternoon with a final score of 2-1 against the Kincardine Bulldogs.

Fergus is seventh out of eight teams in the Provincial Junior Hockey League’s (PJHL) North Pollock division. 

The team plays twice at home this upcoming weekend, first on Friday evening against the Goderich Flyers and then Sunday afternoon against the Hanover Barons.

Mount Forest Patriots

The Mount Forest Patriots won 3-2 at home on Saturday against the Walkerton Capitals. 

The team is second out of eight teams in the PJHL’s North Pollock division.

Mount Forest plays at home again on Saturday against the Mitchell Hawks.

Erin Outlaws

The Outlaws lost 4-1 against the Lucknow Lancers in an away game on Sunday. 

Erin is ninth of 11 teams in the Ontario Elite Hockey League (OEHL) standings. 

The team plays away again on Sunday against the Ripley Wolves.

Minto 81’s 

Minto won twice over the weekend on the road, first 2-1 against the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks and then secured a 4-2 victory over the Seaforth Centenaires. 

The 81’s are third of 11 teams in the OEHL standings. 

The team hits home ice in Palmerston on Friday for an evening match-up against the Tavistock Royals.
