On the ice: how Wellington County hockey teams did this weekend

Weekly wrap-up on the wins and losses from the Elora Rocks, Fergus Whalers, Mount Forest Patriots, Erin Outlaws and Minto 81's

Elora Rocks

In a high-scoring game, Elora Rocks lost 9-7 against the Petrolia Squires.

The team is seventh out of 10 in the Western Ontario Super Hockey League (WOSHL) standings. 

The Rocks hit home ice on Friday against the Dunnville Aeros at 8:30 p.m.

Fergus Whalers

The Whalers won twice at home over the weekend, first 6-2 against the Goderich Flyers on Friday and then 5-4 against the Hanover Barons Sunday. 

Fergus is sixth out of eight teams in the Provincial Junior Hockey League’s (PJHL) North Pollock division.

The team plays twice this upcoming weekend, first against the Wingham Ironmen in a Friday away game and then at home against the Mount Forest Patriots on Sunday.

Mount Forest Patriots

The Mount Forest Patriots won big at home on Saturday, shutting out the Mitchell Hawks 6-0. 

The team is second out of eight teams in the PJHL’s North Pollock division. 

The Patriots are on away ice twice this weekend, first against Mitchell on Saturday and then Fergus on Sunday.

Erin Outlaws

The Outlaws lost 8-5 on Sunday in an away game against the Ripley Wolves.

Erin is ninth out of 11 teams in the Ontario Elite Hockey League (OEHL) standings. 

The team plays next Sunday at home against the Creemore Coyotes. 

Minto 81’s

Minto won 9-4 at home against the Tavistock Royals on Friday. 

The 81’s are second out of 11 teams in the OEHL standings.

The team hits the road for another match against Tavistock on Saturday.
