WELLINGTON COUNTY – The Elora Rocks came out on top in a Wellington County match-up against the Erin Blitz in a game that went to triple overtime.

The two teams met up Saturday night in Erin for a game that went the distance in overtime, giving Elora Rocks a 4-3 win.

A close game in regular time with three goals a piece, it ended up being decided in triple overtime with just one player and a goalie on the ice per team.

After taking shots back-and-forth a few times, the Rocks’ Brendan Woods scored the game winning goal, giving the team its seventh straight win.

But it was a two game weekend at home for Erin who put on a strong showing against the Delhi Flames.

The Blitz took the lead in the first period and the Flames couldn’t recover, resulting in a 8-3 win for Erin.

Elora remains in third place in the nine team Western Ontario Super Hockey League standings while Erin has moved up to seventh.

Both teams are on the ice again this weekend, with another home game for Erin Saturday evening against Tillsonburg and Elora on the road in Delhi the same day.
