WELLINGTON COUNTY – Last year’s Western Ontario Super Hockey League (WOSHL) champions are off to a strong start with a fourth straight win.

The Elora Rocks came out on top against the Delhi Flames on Friday night with a score of 7-2 at home.

Despite the Flames putting more shots on net throughout the game, the Rocks put up a strong five goal second period with two of those shorthanded.

The Elora Rocks are currently ranked second in the nine team league at four wins and no losses behind the first place Tilbury Bluebirds, a new team to the league with five wins and one loss.

It’s a different story for newcomers the Erin Blitz who are tied for the bottom of the rankings after losing to the Bluebirds in an away game Saturday.

Both teams started evenly in the first two periods, trading goals back and forth and entering into the third period tied 4-4.

However, Tilbury capitalized on penalties with five powerplay goals to take home the win.

The Erin Blitz sit at three losses and no wins so far this season.

The Blitz and Rocks face off again on Friday in Elora at 8:30 p.m before Elora hits the road to take on the Plattsville Lakers at the Plattsville Arena in a Sunday afternoon game.
