New LED arena ice lighting has been installed at Centre 2000 and marks a vast improvement over the aged incandescent bulbs.

Installed earlier this week, the lighting cost a total of $15,471, but $7,135.50 of that was paid via a community improvement grant.

Several weeks ago, a new digital LED scoreboard was also installed at Centre 2000 as part of ongoing improvements.

“This is what modern hockey players and fans expect, and this will bring Erin into the future,” said Dee-Enna Dube, Erin’s parks and recreation officer.

The public can see the new lights during a free public skate Dec. 23 at Centre 2000 from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
