The Fergus Whalers are giving the favoured Hanover Barons all they can handle in the second round of the Provincial Junior Hockey League playoffs.

Fergus downed Hanover 3-1 Wednesday night at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex to even the best-of-seven series at two games apiece.

All the scoring came in the first period.

Henry Turner made it 3-1 just after the midway point of the opening frame.

Bradley Boville made 38 saves in the Fergus net.

Hanover finished first in the North Pollock Division this season and Fergus was fourth. Hanover lost just four times all season.
