Canada's Dalton Kellett says he's leaving AJ Foyt Racing.

The 29-year-old from Stouffville, Ont., made the announcement over social media on Tuesday morning. Kellett debuted on the IndyCar Series for Foyt in 2020 and became the team's veteran driver this past season.

"This is not a conclusion I came to lightly, as both the team and I have dedicated time and effort to putting together a program for 2023," said Kellett on his verified Instagram account. "However, at this point, it isn't the right opportunity for me to move forward."

Kellett finished 25th overall in the final 2022 IndyCar standings with 133 points over 17 races. His best-ever finish for Foyt on North America's top open-wheel circuit was 12th at the 2021 Bommarito Automotive Group 500 in Madison, Ill.

He also appeared in three Indianapolis 500s starting in 2020, placing 31st, 23rd, and 27th.

Kellett said he did not have an immediate update on his plans for the 2023 season, but did thank the Foyt team as well as its fans for their support.

"I will always be grateful for my start in IndyCar and will leave (Foyt Racing) with amazing memories," said Kellett. "In my time with the team, I grew as a person and a competitor and am proud of my contributions to their program.

"Being the underdog team is never easy, but we had some moments to be proud of."
