Gerald Eugene “Gerry” Boucher, 76, of Chapleau, Ontario passed away peacefully on September 24th at Hospice Wellington in Guelph, Ontario.

Beloved husband of 49 years to Cheryl. Loving father of Pamela, Clayton (Courtney) and Ashleigh. Cherished Poppa to Isaac and Liam. Gerry will lovingly be remembered by his siblings; Ronnie Boucher, Frank (Carole) Boucher, Anne Marie (Lionel) Gionet, Janet (Ted) Gionet, Joanne (Roger) Mahon, sister-in-law Mary Ann Boucher and sister-in-law Marina (Bill) Glaister. Gerry was preceded in death by his parents George and Olive Boucher, in-laws William and Eileen Kennard, his brother Brian Boucher and sister-in-law Lynne Boucher. Gerry will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Gerry was born in Chapleau, Ontario in 1947. He attended Chapleau Public School and Chapleau High School before earning his degree at Laurentian University. He taught elementary school in Blind River for three years before returning to Chapleau where he was a teacher, vice-principal and principal at Chapleau Public School for 39 years. Gerry was very involved in local sports, playing hockey and curling; coaching hockey and baseball in the community and all sports at the school. He was affectionately known as the “Mayor of Lansdowne” with his walking partner Bandit.

Memorial donations may be made to Chapleau General Hospital Foundation or Hospice Wellington (Guelph) in lieu of flowers. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to staff of 7E floor at Guelph General Hospital, Dr. Stephen Saari and the staff/volunteers at Hospice Wellington who made his last days as comfortable as possible. A celebration of life will take place in 2024.
