After a brief illness, William “Beer Store Bill” Elliston passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
Beloved husband of Frances (Clay) for over 40 years. Lovingly remembered by his children Peggy (Mike) Agnew of Fergus, Shari (John) Thompson of La Salle, Jason Elliston of Kitchener and Vicki (Ron) MacClennan of Guelph. Devoted grandfather of Trevor and Kevin Thompson. Predeceased by parents George and Hope Elliston and In-laws Ian and Dorothy Clay. Bill was born in Toronto at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and he proudly reminded his family of It’s location “on the left” every time we took our annual trip to the CNE. After a brief stint as a teacher in Dorset, Bill moved to Fergus in the early 70’s where he will be fondly remembered as the Manager of Brewers Retail until his retirement.
He was an avid sports fan, involved in local hockey and lacrosse in the 70’s and 80’s and he will definitely be cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs from above!!
Visitation will be held at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home and Chapel, 280 St. David Street South in Fergus, on Friday, May 5th, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral Service will be conducted in the Funeral Home Chapel, on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 at 12:00pm, with visitation from 11:00am. Reception to follow. Private family interment at a later date.
