April 9th, 1937 - April 19th, 2024

Josephine passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, April 19th, 2024 at Headwaters Health Care Center in Orangeville.

Beloved mother of Cindy (Harry), Doug Jr., Andrea (Jim) and Brenda (Glenn). Dearly loved grandmother of Randy (Danielle), Brian (Tracy), Kevin (Stacey), Glen, Kendra, Tanya (Devon) Jenna (Shawn). Great grandmother to Julia, Hailey, Brayden, Brody, Dylan, McKenzie, Everett, Paisleigh, and Reed, not to forget Josephine and Vincent . Beloved sister of Elizabeth (Reg}, Edward (Sonny) (Diane), Roy Smith and Margaret Spooner.

Josephine, or Josie as she was affectionately called, was best known as a lover of all things "Toronto Blue Jays". Rarely would you see her without her wearing some sort of Blue Jays gear or talking about a Blue Jays player or game. She attended games whenever she could and was known for her flashy signs which would lead to many baseballs being thrown her way from the players which she was so proud to show off and share with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She loved her monthly bus trips to the Casinos with her group of friends from Maple Leaf Acres --- not surprisingly she was known to be one of the rowdy ones on the bus. Whether she was selling tickets for raffles, or passing out snacks, she was always involved in one way or another She can now gamble to her hearts content with many of them.

She loved to dance and sing and was always humming a tune or tapping her foot to a good beat. "You Are My Sunshine" often being sung by her to her family, along with anything from the Sound of Music. She enjoyed attending the dances at Maple Leaf Acres, where she resided for over 20 years.

Family gatherings, big and small, were her favorite. She did her best to attend each and every event she was invited to and simply loved being surrounded by everyone. Her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren were her world and whom she dearly loved with all her heart.

Another love was for --- FOOD!!!….oh she loved her food! The "Leftover Queen", as we liked to call her.

She spoiled her pets and will be deeply missed by Tina and Tessie. She will be greeted by lots of sloppy kisses and purrs by Bud, Mickey, Molly, Suzy, Joey, Missie, Tinker Bell and her Tyson boy!

She will live on in memories by so many being known as Mom, Nanny, Nanny Jo, and Great Nanny Jo. She had the kindest soul, the biggest heart, and it didn’t take long for anyone to start calling her by one of her many terms of endearment. She showered everyone she loved with affection and will live on as the Queen in our hearts. We will miss you deeply.

Thank you to the Doctors and Staff at Headwaters Health Care Center for their care given to her in her final days.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, April 25th, with Visitation at 11 am and Celebration beginning at 12 noon at Bethel Baptist Church located at 675 Victoria Terrace, Fergus, followed by a luncheon.
