October 1st, 1946 - October 12th, 2023

After a courageous battle with cancer, Allan died peacefully at Groves Memorial Hospital on October 12, 2023.

Left to mourn his passing are his partner and best friend, Cheryl Banks; his son John Goudie (Wendy) and granddaughter Cheysa; his daughter Tara Virgoe (Neil) and their children Jackson and Dylan; his brother in law Larry Banks. Allan was predeceased by his first wife Linda. Born October 1, 1946 in Grand Falls, Newfoundland, Allan was the youngest of a large family. He was a generous and gregarious individual who always saw the creative way to approach any problem.

He was a hard worker and loved to socialize. Allan taught school with the Upper Grand Board of Education for over 30 years. He somehow found time to raise a family and build and renovate a number of homes. An interest in history and antiques spurred Allan to launch an antique business and upon retiring, he began a second career as an antiques dealer. He did many antique shows in Ontario and Quebec and always enjoyed talking to people about their interesting lives and collections of memorabilia. Allan enjoyed golf, gardening, movies and chatting with family and friends. He travelled to visit many countries and friends throughout the world.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Allan's Life will take place Friday, October 20, 2023 at 1:00 pm at The Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Groves Hospital for their excellent care of Allan both in Oncology and in Emergency and Palliative Care. www.grahamgiddyfh.com
