March 8th, 1955 - March 27th, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lance Knight on March 27, 2023, at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa at the age of 68.

Beloved father of Tara Knight (Chris), Kevin Knight (Erin), and Meagan Vande Vooren (Bryce). Former husband of Mary Knight (Holland). Cherished Poppa of Leah, Dylan, and Cole Mulhall, Charlie and Harrison Knight, and Aubrey Vande Vooren. Survived by his sister Janice Bennett (Chuck).

Born in Toronto, Lance grew up in Oakville with his Mom and Dad, Pat and Gerald Knight, and his sister, Janice. After graduating high school in Barrie, Lance moved to Toronto and later met Mary in Guelph, where they married in 1976. He and Mary established their roots in Milton, where they raised their three children together before moving to Fergus in 1990.

Lance had a long and successful career in automotive collision repair. He was an entrepreneur, body shop manager, and consultant within the industry. Collision repair was a wise career choice for Lance, given the number of fender benders he fixed for Tara, Kevin, and Meagan over the years.

Lance was a builder in every sense of the word. He loved to tinker, repair, and assemble. He generously shared his time and expertise to build apartments, bathrooms, bedrooms, playgrounds, docks, decks, and other projects for his family. These handyman projects contribute to the legacy that Lance leaves behind today.

Lance had several hobbies and interests. Some of his fondest memories were spending time with the family at their cottage on Six Mile Lake, where they spent their days boating, fishing, and water skiing together.

He was very involved in sports, including baseball, golf, and hockey. Lance coached Kevin and Meagan's baseball teams and was the Umpire in Chief for Fergus Minor Softball. Lance loved horses, and he and Tara would enjoy horseback riding together. Lance was an excellent golfer, despite not playing the sport until his 40s. You would be hard-pressed to find anyone who could out-drive Lance off the tee.

His beliefs and morals emphasized the value of work ethic, honesty, and responsibility. Lance and Mary stressed the importance of education, and he was very proud of his children's many successes in their schooling and chosen careers.

We will deeply miss Lance's love and support, and we know that his legacy will continue to live on through the values and actions of his family and friends.

Memorial donations can be directed to Centre Wellington Minor Softball in memory of Lance Knight.
