December 7th, 1954 - April 22nd, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Rob in his 70th year. A loving husband to Jeanette Ainslie. A wonderful father of Todd, Jocelyn (Miles), Brandon (Lyndall), Shelby (Joe) and Sarah. Extremely proud Grandpa to Matteo, Ivy, Dylan and Allie. He will be missed by his brother-in-law Jason Ainslie (Teresa) and Kim Ainslie, nieces Emily (Alyssa), Margaret (Ricardo) and Madeline (Jibin) and his Smith and Wilson cousins. Predeceased by his parents John and Audrey (King) McEachern, mother-in-law Alice Jean (Ainslie) Schaefer, father-in-law’s Bryan Ainslie and John Schaefer and brother-in-law Bryan Ainslie.

Rob was born in Wellington County and raised in Orton. A second-generation owner and operator of McEachern Electric Ltd for 30 of its 75 years. He was an avid fan of baseball and hockey, devoted supporter to the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. Rob enjoyed the last 15 years at the cottage on Belwood Lake, most recently the condo in Elora and winters in Florida. Often with a murder mystery, sports biography or James Patterson book close by.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rob’s honour can be made to:

Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus - our family is thankful to the staff at Groves Memorial Hospital for the care we have received over the years;
St. John’s Ambulance - Rob always advocated the importance of having CPR/first aid training in case you ever had to perform it to save a life;
Orton Community Association - Rob always supported activities and events that occurred in the Orton community. To donate please email [email protected] or call Cathie Keeler at 519-855-4243.

A celebration of life will be held on June 9, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Orton Community Association Pavilion, John Street, Orton, Ontario.
