Thomas Hartland Moir, a devoted husband and father passed away peacefully on September 23, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on March 31, 1942, in rural Wellington County, the youngest son of Benjamin and Edith, a farming couple of the Gerrie Homestead in Elora. He grew up in the heartland of rural Ontario, instilled with a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the land. But rather than stay on the farm he pursued a business education and embarked on a successful career as a management accountant in manufacturing technology firms in Fergus, Guelph, and Waterloo spanning 45 years.

Tom was a devoted husband of 55 years, to his beloved wife, Sally, and a loving father to their two daughters (Deborah and Cindy) and three sons (Paul, Philip and Peter). His children remember him as a good natured, fun loving, and emotionally balanced pillar of strength, providing unwavering support to his family. Tom's commitment to his family was without doubt, and his legacy lives on in the values he instilled in them.

One of Tom's greatest joys in life was his love for road travel, which he pursued with zest and enthusiasm. The family explored national parks, quaint towns, spent nights under the starry skies, and created cherished memories along the way.

Tom was an active member of the community, a long-standing member of the Knox Presbyterian Church, an avid member of the Singing Seniors group, and regularly attended the community dances in the Guelph Wellington area. When he was younger, he was involved with the Junior Farmers, where he enjoyed attending the various activities, especially the dances where he met Sally. His passion for singing and dancing continued throughout the remainder of his life. He was a very social person and will be remembered as a kind, friendly, gentle person who was always happy and smiling.

Tom will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will be forever cherished by his loving family, friends, and those whose lives he touched with his warm heart. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, let us remember his unique storytelling and humour, love for the land and rural life, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life.

A memorial service to celebrate Tom's life will be held on October 8, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Knox Presbyterian Church in Elora with the visitation from 12 PM to 2 PM. In lieu of gifts, the family requests that donations be made to the Knox Presbyterian Church in Elora in honour of Tom's memory.

Rest in peace, Tom, and may your journeys continue in the great beyond, as you travel to new horizons under the eternal skies.
