April 16th, 1952 - December 29th, 2023

It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Norm John Wylie Sr. on December 29 th , peacefully in his sleep.

A beloved husband to Theresa (Hillis) for 51 years, Norm was the kindest soul you would ever meet. Norm would always be the first to help a neighbour, friend and even strangers when the opportunity presented itself. Norm and Theresa settled in Drayton, Ontario for their retirement years, where Norm was a key member of the community known for his excellent car-detailing business.

A devoted Dad to sons Norm Jr. (Tara Curtin) and Sam (Tara McGillis). Norm will forever be missed around the dinner tables and family functions and especially around the hockey rink or ball diamond. You always knew when Norm Sr. was in the room. If you didn’t see him, you’d definitely hear him, most likely telling a story or two.

Norm Sr.’s most important role in life was being the biggest cheerleader for his only grandchild Nathan. Fondly known as “Gramper” Norm was beyond proud of any and all accomplishments he got to witness of Nate.

Born in Cambridge, Ontario in April of 1952 to Betty and Jack Wylie, Norm was one of 6 children; the eldest boy. Fondly remembered by sisters Maggie Quintus, Heather (Steve), Terry Hasselberg (Vern) and brothers Jack and Rob along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by his parents, sweet sister-in-law Trudy and handsome nephew Greg. Norm made many long-lasting friendships with the crew that he worked with at Patriot Forge for over 25 years with lots of great stories and memories that he loved to share.

The family would like to thank the first responders for their efforts and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Jumpstart program would be just what Norm Sr. would want.

A celebration of life will be held in the near future. Information will be shared over social media once details are finalized. Come and share memories with the family as we celebrate Norm Sr.
