Michael Peter Zettel, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to many passed away peacefully in his home in Elora surrounded by his loving family on the evening of Thursday April 13th, 2023.
Born in Guelph, Ontario on September 18th, 1953, Michael grew up in Cambridge, Ontario. After completing his Bachelor's Degree at the University of Waterloo, he went on to pursue his passion in the professional hockey world as both a player and a coach for over 30 years. His dedication to the sport and his love for the game shone through in everything he did, and he left a lasting mark on the hockey community.
After retiring from professional hockey, Michael continued to pursue his passions, working as a real estate agent in his beloved Centre Wellington community. He was always on the go, living life to the fullest, and his infectious energy was contagious. He was very proud of his community and touched the lives of many.
Michael was a loving husband, father, and friend, with a heart full of kindness and generosity. He will forever be remembered by his wife of 25 years, Jana, his children Micaela(Dave), Mark(Reeva) and Julia(Sam) and his granddaughter Finnley. He cherished his family above all else and was a constant source of love and support to those closest to him. His love for hockey was only matched by his love for cars, and he could often be found washing, polishing, and admiring his latest acquisition.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Rest in peace, Michael. Your kindness, passion, and love will never be forgotten.
A private service will be held at the family's request.
Michael will be honoured with a celebration of life at a later date.
