Aberfoyle store break-in causes thousands in damage

Stolen pickup used in theft of power trimmers, generators later found abandoned and on fire, police say

Thieves caused thousands of dollars in damage to a building in Puslinch after backing through the front door of a business and stealing power trimmers and generators.

A stolen getaway vehicle was later found on fire, having been abandoned, police said.

Thursday, at approximately 12:05 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a theft from a business in Aberfoyle.

It was reported two pickup trucks attended the store. 

One backed through the front entrance before three suspects loaded trimmers, a power blower and generators before fleeing.

One of the vehicles was located abandoned and on fire a short time later, police said.

The vehicle had been reported stolen in Guelph.

Police are seeking to ID the second vehicle, a silver GMC pickup that was last seen travelling south on Brock Road South (Highway 6).

Suspects have been described as:

  1. male, wearing a red camo jacket and blue pants
  2. male wearing dark clothing, green gloves and a hoodie
  3. male wearing a dark grey jacket and a dark winter tuque and dark face mask

Preliminary estimates put damages to the building near $50,000, police said.
