Assault with weapon charges laid after disturbance call

Weapons possession charges also brought against 21-year-old from Mount Forest

WELLINGTON NORTH – One person has been charged after police responded to a disturbance call on July 10.

At around 10:30 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police were called to Queen Street West, Wellington North Township. 

It was reported that a person had threatened an individual with a weapon. 

Officers were able to identify and locate the person involved, police said in a news release. 

As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Mount Forest resident has been charged with:

  • Possession of a prohibiteddevice - two counts
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Assault with a weapon

The accused was held pending a bail hearing.
