GUELPH-ERAMOSA – OPP have laid charges against a driver involved in a fatal collision that occurred on Highway 6, south of Fergus.
A 30-year-old Tara man has been charged with impaired operation cause death, dangerous driving cause death and obstruct peace officer contrary to the Criminal Code. Further, the accused was charged with two counts of driving while under suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act, and with possession of a schedule I substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The accused was held for bail.
On December 29, 2023, Wellington County OPP, Centre Wellington Fire Rescue and Guelph Wellington Paramedics Service responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 6, south of Wellington Road 22.
Dave Genereaux, 40, of Fergus, died at the scene.
