Charges laid in Sunday's fatal collision near Hillsburgh

ERIN – A 25-year-old driver is facing multiple alleged impaired driving charges stemming from a fatal collision Sunday evening. 

Shortly after 6:15 p.m. Sunday, Wellington OPP responded to a report of a collision involving a pickup truck and a hatchback on Wellington Road 22 near Trafalgar Road. 

The 31-year-old pickup truck driver from the Town of Erin was transported to hospital, where they died. 

The hatchback driver, 25-year-old Nicholas McGrath from Hillsburgh, went to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has been charged with dangerous operation causing death, impaired operation causing death and BAC over 80 causing death. 

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Guelph on Aug. 11.
