Driver charged after fleeing from police

Palmerston driver was stopped for Highway Traffic Act violation before trying to escape

A 32-year-old from Palmerston faces charges after being stopped by police on Third Line in Minto Township for a Highway Traffic Act violation then driving away, according to a news release.

The escape caused damage to a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police cruiser, the release added. The man was located a short distance away from the incident and arrested. 

He is charged with:

  • Dangerous operation
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Drive while under suspension
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on Nov. 24.
