Driver gets insecure load ticket after dog falls out of vehicle

Police say the dog fell out of the back of a side-by-side vehicle, but wasn't injured

PALMERSTON – On November 8, 2022, an officer with the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting patrols in Palmerston when a side-by-side was observed on Main Street East with three dogs in the back. While the vehicle was in motion, one of the dogs fell from the rear of the vehicle and landed on the roadway. Thankfully the dog was un-harmed. 

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old from Palmerston was charged with insecure load contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. 

The Wellington County OPP would like to remind all pet owners to make sure that their animals are properly secured anytime they are transporting them in a vehicle, for their safety and the safety of their pet.
