Erin driver accused of hit and run

ERIN - A driver has been charged after failing to remain at the scene of a motor vehicle collision.

On Aug. 26, 2022 at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a fail to remain collision involving a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle at Wellington Road 124 and Wellington Road 125.

It was reported that the passenger vehicle was stopped at the intersection when a pickup truck committed an unsafe manoeuvre, causing damage to the passenger vehicle. The pickup truck then drove away from the scene.

Officers were able to locate the pickup truck and as a result of the investigation a 53-year-old from Erin has been charged with fail to remain contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the provincial offences court - Guelph at a later date.
