Fergus resident charged with shoplifting

A report of items being stolen from a store has resulted in charges for a local resident.

On March 15 at around 1:45 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a report of shoplifting at a retail business on Tower Street South in Fergus.

It was reported a person had stolen around $275 worth of products, police said in a news release.

After an investigation, a 50-year-old Fergus resident was charged with theft under $5,000.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on May 12.
