GUELPH – Guelph police say three people, including two youths, have been arrested after they were stopped in a stolen vehicle Sunday night.

A Guelph Police Service officer was patrolling just after 11 p.m. Sunday when he queried the licence plate on a Jeep Patriot and learned it had been reported stolen from Wellington County. The officer continued to follow the Jeep until other officers were able to attend and assist with stopping it at Woolwich Street and Norfolk Street.

The three occupants were arrested. During a search incident to arrest, a spring-assisted knife was located on the driver.

An 18-year-old Guelph female, 17-year-old Kingston male and 16-year-old Fergus male are jointly charged with being occupants in a stolen motor vehicle. The Kingston male is further charged with possessing a prohibited weapon and breaching a release order.

The Kingston male was held for a bail hearing Monday. The other two accused have been released with January court dates.
