Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are asking for the public's assistance as it investigates four residences that were broken into.

On August 7, 2022, the Wellington County OPP received four separate reports of residences that had been broken into, sometime overnight. It was reported that two residences on Colborne Street and two residences on Keating Drive had been broken into. It is unknown what was stolen at this time.

Any person with information regarding these incidents should contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip on-line at www.csgw.tips. You may be eligible for a reward from Crime Stoppers of up to $2,000.

The Wellington County OPP would like to encourage property owners to take measures to protect their property by ensuring it is properly secured and well lit. Installing video surveillance equipment can also serve as a deterrent to property crime.

While many go on vacation over the summer, the Wellington County OPP is asking residents to take extra steps in securing their property. If you will be away for a period of time, make arrangements for someone to retrieve your mail; have someone check on your residence regularly; be mindful about posting your whereabouts on social media as perpetrators can often use this information to know when people are away; and store valuables and important documents in inconspicuous places.

You can also visit the OPP website for more tips on how to safeguard your property.

Please do not hesitate to report any suspicious activity in your neighbourhood to the police.
