Irvine River death remains under investigation, victim identified

Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have identified the deceased individual that was located along the Irvine River as a 67-year-old male from Waterloo. The cause of the death is still under investigation.

On Sept. 15, 2022, at approximately 2:40 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an injury call on John Street, Elora. It was reported that a person was lying along the Irvine River in the Elora Gorge.

OPP along with Centre Wellington Fire Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services attended. The individual was pronounced dead at scene.

OPP are assisting the Office of the Chief Coroner with the investigation.
