London resident charged in Wellington County crimes

On February 21, 2024, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported break in at a residence on Fourth Line, Mapleton. It was reported that two parties had broken into a home and had fled on foot. Police responded and located two stolen vehicles near the residence: A beige pick-up truck from Wallenstein and a white Sport Utility Vehicle from London. One party was located on a nearby property and charged.

On February 21, 2024, at approximately 5:45 p.m., OPP responded to a theft call on Clyde Street, Elora. It was reported that an individual had stolen a bicycle and had damaged it. Police responded and located the same suspect from the early occurrence and laid further charges.

A 30-year-old from London has been charged with Break-Enter a Dwelling House with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence, Break-Enter a Place - with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence, and two counts of Theft of Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code. Further, the accused was also charged with Theft Under $5000, and Mischief, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on April 16, 2024.
