Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has consolidated and streamlined notable traffic offences with a single release.

On February 11, 2024, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Eighth Line West, Pilkington. At approximately 11:15 a.m., the driver of a white sport utility vehicle was observed traveling well above the posted 60 kilometre per hour speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old driver from Waterloo, has been charged with Driving Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt - Excessive Speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on May 15, 2024.

On February 11, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a black sedan on Highway 9, Minto. As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old from Walkerton, has been charged with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, on February 27, 2024.

On February 11, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a vehicle collision on Highway 23, Minto. It was reported that a single vehicle had been involved and that the vehicle was on fire. As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old from London, has been charged with Operation While Impaired, Dangerous Operation and two counts of Operation While Prohibited, contrary to the Criminal Code. Further, the driver was also charged with Suspended Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, on February 27, 2024.

On February 13, 2024, at approximately 8:15 a.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a red sport utility vehicle on Victoria Rd. North, Guelph. As a result of the investigation, a 62-year-old driver from Elmira, has been charged with Driving While Under Suspension and Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on June 5, 2024.

On February 14, 2024, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Queen Street West, Fergus. At approximately 12:15 a.m., the driver of a red pickup truck was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 68-year-old driver from Fergus, has been charged with Driving While Under Suspension, Fail to Properly Wear Seat Belt, Drive Motor Vehicle in Contravention of Conditions, Defective Breaking System and Operate Unsafe Combination of Vehicles, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on May 15, 2024.

On February 14, 2024, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Martin Road, Guelph/Eramosa. At approximately 2:30 p.m., the driver of a silver sedan was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old driver from Guelph has been charged with Operator Motor Vehicle Without Insurance, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. Further, the driver was also charged with Failing to Surrender License, Drive Motor Vehicle Failed to Display Two Plates and G1 License Holder Unaccompanied by a Licensed Driver, Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court Guelph, on May 15, 2024.

On February 16, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle collision on Wellington Road 51 near Wellington Road 7. It was reported that four vehicles were involved, and a driver was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. As a result of an investigation, a 25-year-old from Guelph, was charged with Operation while Impaired and Dangerous Operation, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, on April 9, 2024.

On February 17, 2024, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Saint David Street North, Fergus. At approximately 2:45 a.m., the driver of a silver coupe was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old driver from Kitchener, has been charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. Further, the driver was also charged with Failing to Surrender License and Drive Without Proper Rear Light contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on May 15, 2024.

On February 17, 2024, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic Durham Street West, Mount Forest. At approximately 9:15 p.m., the driver of a black pickup truck was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 55-year-old driver from Wellington North has been charged with Driving While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on February 17, 2024.

On February 18, 2024, a member of the Wellington County OPP was patrolling Highway 6, north of Fergus. At approximately 2:30 a.m., the driver of a silver pick-up truck was observed in the ditch. As a result of the investigation, a 55-year-old from Fergus, was charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, on March 8, 2024.

On February 19, 2024, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 18, east of Fergus. At approximately 1:30 p.m., the driver of a blue hatchback who was observed driving erratically. As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old from Fergus, has been charged with Dangerous Operation, Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, on March 8, 2024.

On February 19, 2024, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Elora Street South, Harriston. At approximately 1:45 p.m., the driver of a red SUV sport utility vehicle was observed with a heavy amount of snow on the windshield. As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old driver from Harriston, was charged with Driving While Under Suspension, No Clearview to Front and Failed to Notify Change of Address, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on May 15, 2024.

On February 20, 2024, at approximately 3:45 a.m., The Wellington County OPP responded to collision on Wellington Road 27, north of Rockwood. It was reported that a grey pick-up truck had entered the ditch. As a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old from Puslinch, was charged with Dangerous Operation and Impaired Operation contrary to the Criminal Code. Further, the driver was also charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Cocaine, Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Heroin and Possession of a Schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act. Further, the driver was also charged with Having Care and Control of a Vehicle With Cannabis Readily Available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, on April 12, 2024.

On February 20, 2024, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP conducted a commercial motor vehicle inspection of a white tractor-trailer on Wellington Road 7, Mapleton. As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old driver from Brampton, faces numerous Highway Traffic Act offences including Drive Commercial Motor Vehicle With a Major Defect, Operate Commercial Motor Vehicle With Load Not Secure and Improper Tires - Drawn Vehicle. Further, a Brampton business faces numerous Highway Traffic Act charges including Failing to Ensure Daily Inspection is Conducted Properly, Failing to Ensure Performance Standards are Met and Permit Operation of a Commercial Motor Vehicle With Load Not Secured. A total of 31 offences were identified.

On February 20, 2024, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Highway 6, north of Fergus. Approximately 8:00 p.m., the driver of a beige sedan was observed traveling above the posted 80km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old from Harriston, was charged with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code. Further, the driver is also charged with Operate Motor Vehicle Without Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. Further, the driver was also charged with Driving While Under Suspension, Speeding and Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, on March 12, 2024.

*Anyone charged with Operation while Impaired - B.A.C. 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) or Failing to Comply with Demand receives a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment as per statute.

*Anyone charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt receives a 14-day impoundment and a 30-day driver's licence suspension as per statute.
