Owner charged after two people bitten by dogs in Fergus

A dog owner is facing several charges after their dogs got loose and bit two separate individuals.

On Sept. 22, 2022, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an animal complaint on Duncan Court, Fergus. It was reported that four dogs had gotten loose and were running around the neighbourhood and that two individuals had been bitten, receiving minor injuries. The Wellington County OPP along with the Guelph Humane Society attended the scene.

As a result of the investigation a 44-year-old of Fergus has been charged with two counts of owner of dog - fail to prevent dog from biting, attacking a person or domestic animal under the Dog Owners' Liability Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear before the provincial offences court at a later date.
