Police investigating swastikas left at Mount Forest buildings

Police were called to multiple sites in the past two days

On Jan. 5, 2023, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of mischief at a public building on Main Street North, Mount Forest. It was reported that sometime between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., on Jan. 5, 2023, unknown persons carved swastikas on a bathroom wall and plugged a toilet with paper at the Wellington County Library, Mount Forest branch.

On Jan. 6, 2023, Wellington County OPP received a report of mischief at a public building on Princess Street, Mount Forest. It was reported that sometime between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., on Jan. 4, 2022, unknown persons clogged toilets with paper and turned over garbage cans in a bathroom at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex. It was also reported that sometime between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., on Jan. 5, 2022, unknown persons lit toilet paper on fire and marked swastikas and vulgar rhetoric on a bathroom wall.

On Jan. 6, 2023, Wellington County OPP received a report of mischief at a business on Main Street South, Mount Forest. It was reported that sometime in the proceeding day, unknown persons marked swastikas in the restaurant's bathroom.
