Police look for owner after child bit by dog

Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a dog bite that had occurred in Harold Chamberlain Park, Elora.

It was reported that on October 6, 2023, at approximately 5:00 p.m., a 7-year-old had been injured by an unidentified, Airedale Terrier type dog. An individual, who is suspected to be the owner, fled prior to identifying themselves. The Injuries to the child were treated at a hospital.                                                                              

Police continue to investigate and seek to identify the owner of the involved dog. The individual is described as female, Caucasian, heavy set, tall, wearing a light-coloured skirt and top. A photograph depicting a similar type of dog is above.

Anyone with information related to this occurrence is asked to call the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Public Health Ontario was notified.
