GUELPH – A man and woman were both arrested for impaired driving Monday night after taking turns driving downtown, say Guelph police.

Just after 10 p.m. police were called about a possible impaired driver sitting in a car near Wyndham Street North and Macdonell Street. While on the phone, the witness reported the male driver and his female passenger had switched seats and driven away.

The vehicle returned a short time later and parked in the area. Officers located both parties standing outside and noted signs of impairment on both. Both were arrested and transported to the police station, where breath tests confirmed both had more than the legal amount of alcohol in their system.

A 48-year-old Guelph man and 47-year-old Erin woman are each charged with impaired driving.
