Victim suffers minor injures during assault in Fergus

One charged, police still seeking second person of interest

FERGUS — On Sept. 17, 2022, at approximately 10 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault that had taken place at an address on Belsyde Avenue East. It was reported that the victim had been assaulted by two persons known to the victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Riley Wade Strub, 22-years-old of Fergus has been charged with Assault contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

The investigation is continuing as there is another person of interest involved.
