COUNTY OF WELLINGTON — Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to consolidate and streamline our notable traffic offences and publish a single weekly release.

As a result of an investigation, a 60-year-old driver from Guelph, has been charged with Fail to Remain and Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. On Aug. 21, 2022, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a collision involving a sedan and a pedestrian on West Mill Street, Elora. Emergency services responded and the pedestrian did not require medical attention. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, at a late date.

On Aug. 28, 2022, at approximately 3:15 a.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP initiated a traffic stop of a red sedan on Tower Street South, Fergus. As a result of the investigation, Adam KAMPF, 46-years-old of Fergus, has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of Justice - Guelph at a later date.

On Aug. 29, 2022, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 29, Guelph/Eramosa Township. At approximately 8:15 a.m., a black sedan was observed travelling well above the posted 50km/hr speed limit. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old driver from Brampton, was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in the provincial offence court - Guelph, at a later date.

On Aug. 29, 2022, Wellington County OPP received a traffic complaint for a black Sport Utility Vehicle (S.U.V.) that was being driven erratically near Concession 2A, Puslinch. At approximately 4:00 p.m., investigators located the vehicle and a result, Bruce W. CANARY, 56-year-old of Guelph, has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused became assaultive with officers and was charged with Assault Police and Resist Police contrary to the criminal code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of Justice - Guelph at a later date.

On Aug. 30, 2022, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 109, Wellington North. At approximately 12:15 a.m., a blue S.U.V. was observed travelling well above the posted 80km/hr speed limit. As a result of an investigation, a 51-year-old driver from Mississauga has been charged Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in the provincial offence court - Guelph, at a later date.

On Aug. 30, 2022, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Wellington County OPP received a suspicious vehicle report from Elora Street South, Harriston. Investigator responded and as a result, Montana VOGELGSANG, 29-years-old of Sarnia, has been charged with Failure to Comply with Demand for a Standard Field Sobriety Test (S.F.S.T). The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, at a later date.

Anyone charged with Impaired Operation - 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) or Failing to Comply with Demand receives a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment as per statute.

Anyone charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle receives a 14-day impoundment and a 30-day driver's licence suspension as per statute.
