WELLINGTON WEEKLY: Nine 'notable' traffic offences

Charges include impaired, driving under suspension, careless driving and failure to remain

Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to consolidate and streamline our notable traffic offences and publish a single weekly release.

On June 15, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Main Street South, Mount Forest. Officers located the vehicle, and, as a result of the investigation, a 56-year-old of Palmerston has been charged with Operation while Impaired -B.A.C. (80 Plus). The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 4, 2023. 

On June 16, at approximately 11:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the complainant's yard. The person was located in the middle of Mcnab Street West. As a result of the investigation, a 61 year old of Elora was issued a provincial offence notice for public intoxication.     

On June 17, at approximately 8:00 a.m., officers located a single motor vehicle in the ditch on Highway 6, Wellington North Township. Investigation determined that the driver of the vehicle had failed to report a collision. As a result of the investigation, a 23 year old of Durham has been charged with Careless Driving and Fail to Remain. The defendant is scheduled to appear before the provincial offences court on September 13, 2023. 

On June 18, at approximately 4:00 p.m., an officer with the Wellington County OPP stopped a motor vehicle after receiving a notification from the Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system while patrolling Wellington Road 26, Erin. As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old of Orillia, has been charged with two counts of Driving while Suspended and with Operation while Impaired -B.A.C. (80 Plus). The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 7, 2023.     

On June 21, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers were conducting a RIDE program on Wellington Road 21, Pilkington, when they observed a pickup truck attempting to avoid the RIDE program. Officers were able to stop the vehicle. As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old of Lambton Shores has been charged with Refusal to Comply with Demand. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 11, 2023.

On June 23, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles on Wellington Road 30. As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old of Kitchener has been charged with Operation while Impaired -B.A.C. (80 Plus). The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 11, 2023.     

On June 23, at approximately 8:45 p.m., an officer stopped a motor vehicle on North Water Street West, Wellington North Township, for a Highway Traffic Act violation. As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old of Arthur has been charged with Operation while Impaired -B.A.C. (80 Plus). The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 14, 2023.     

On June 23, at approximately 11:45 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on St. David Street, Fergus. As a result of the investigation, a 40 year old of Burlington has been charged with Driving while under Suspension, Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance, Drive Motor Vehicle - no currently validated permit, and with Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available. The defendant is scheduled to appear before the provincial offences court in Guelph on September 13, 2023. 

On June 24, at approximately 2:45 a.m., officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 124 at Beech Street. As a result of the investigation, a-22 year-old of Guelph has been charged with Operation while Impaired -B.A.C. (80 Plus). The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 11, 2023.
