Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has consolidated and streamlined notable traffic offences with a single release.

On December 14, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Highway 23, Minto. At approximately 7:45 p.m., the driver of a grey sedan was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old driver from Gorrie, was charged with Suspended Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (H.T.A.). The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on March 20, 2024.

On December 14, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 109, Wellington North. At approximately 9:15 p.m., a blue hatchback was observed travelling well above the posted 80km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old driver from Moorefield has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt - Excessive Speed, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on March 6, 2024.

On December 15, 2023, members of the Wellington County OPP had a section of road closed for a collision on Tower Street South, Fergus. At approximately 8:30 a.m., a grey sedan drove through the road closure. As a result of that investigation, a 20-year-old driver from Fergus, has been charged with Careless Driving and Operate Unsafe Vehicle, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on March 6, 2023.

On December 15, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Eighth Line West, Pilkington. At approximately 2:15 p.m., the driver of a black pickup truck was observed travelling well above the posted 60km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old driver from Palmerston, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt - Excessive Speed, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on March 6, 2024.

On December 16, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Highway 6, south of Fergus. At approximately 3:00 a.m., the driver of a black sedan was stopped. As a result of the investigation,  a 29-year-old of Fergus, has been charged with Operation while Prohibited and with six counts of Failure to Comply with Undertaking, contrary to the Criminal Code. Further, the driver was also charged with Possession of a Scheduled I Substance- Opioid, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (C.D.S.A.). The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on February 9, 2024.

On December 16, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 21, Elora. At approximately 4:15 p.m., the driver of a commercial motor vehicle was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 69-year-old driver from West Montrose, faces numerous Commercial Motor Vehicle related charges including Drive Motor Vehicle - Improper Licence, Insecure Load and Defective Braking System, contrary to the H.T.A. Nine violations in total were identified.

On December 16, 2023, members of the Wellington County OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Wellington Road 7, Mapleton. At approximately 9:15 p.m., the driver of a white sedan entered the R.I.D.E. check. As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old driver from Acton, has been charged with Driving while Under Suspension contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on March 6, 2024.

On December 16, 2023, members of the Wellington County OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. check on Wellington Road 7, Mapleton. At approximately 10:30 p.m., the driver of a white pickup truck entered the check. As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old of Guelph, has been charged with Refusal to Comply with Demand contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, on February 6, 2024.

On December 17, 2023, Wellington County OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. It was reported that a grey pickup truck had rolled, and the driver had fled the scene on foot. As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old of Guelph, has been charged with Operation while Impaired, Refusal to Comply with Demand, Obstruct Peace Officer, and Failure to Stop After Accident, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of justice - Guelph, on January 5, 2024.

On December 18, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Gerrie Road, Elora. At approximately 11:00 a.m., the driver of a black sedan was stopped. As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old driver from Elora, was charged with Suspended Driving contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on April 3, 2024.

On December 20, 2023, a member of the West Region OPP - Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) team was monitoring traffic on Highway 6, Guelph. At approximately 1:30 p.m., the driver of a silver sedan was observed travelling well above the posted 80km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old driver from Guelph, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt - Excessive Speed, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on March 30, 2024.

On December 20, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Tucker Street, Arthur. At approximately 8:30 p.m., the operator of an E-bike was stopped and became confrontational with police. As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old from Arthur, has been charged with Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm and Resist Peace Officer, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear. The accused was held for bail.

On December 21, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 7, Mapleton. At approximately 9:00 a.m., the driver of a blue Sport Utility Vehicle (S.U.V.) was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old driver from Cambridge, was charged with Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (C.A.I.A.). The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on April 3, 2024.

On December 21, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 7, Mapleton. At approximately 2:45 p.m., the driver of a black mini van was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 56-year-old driver from Harriston, was charged with Suspended Driving contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on April 3, 2024.

On December 21, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Clair Road West, Guelph. At approximately 1:30 p.m., the driver of a commercial motor vehicle was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 72-year-old driver from Guelph, faces numerous Commercial Motor Vehicle related charges including Push Rod Stroke Exceeds Prescribed Limit, No Valid C.V.O.R. (Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration) Certificate and Driver - Fail to Properly Wear Seat Belt, contrary to the H.T.A. Nine violations in total were identified.

On December 22, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Highway 6, Mapleton. At approximately 3:45 p.m., the driver of a white van was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 57-year-old driver from Dundalk, was charged with Suspended Driving contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on April 3, 2024.

On December 22, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on St. David Street North, Fergus. At approximately 4:45 p.m., the driver of a white sedan was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old driver from Fergus, was charged with two counts of Suspended Driving, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on April 3, 2024.

On December 22, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Speedvale Avenue West, Guelph. At approximately 7:30 p.m., the driver of a white S.U.V. was observed travelling well above the posted 60km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old from Guelph, has been charged with Operation while Impaired, contrary to the Criminal Code. Further, the driver was also charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt - Excessive Speed, Drive - Display Screen Visible to Driver and No Currently Validated Permit, contrary to the H.T.A. Further, the driver was also charged with Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Control Act (L.L.C.A.). The defendant is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice- Guelph, on January 9, 2024.

On December 22, 2023, members of the Wellington County OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. check on Speedvale Avenue East, Guelph. At approximately 9:30 p.m., the driver of a grey pickup truck entered the check. As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old from Guelph, has been charged with Operation while Impaired (80 Plus), contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, on January 12, 2024.

On December 22, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Speedvale Avenue West, Guelph. At approximately 10:00 p.m., the driver of a black sedan was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 51-year-old of Guelph, has been charged with Suspended Driving, contrary to the H.T.A. Further, the driver was also charged with Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor, contrary to the L.L.C.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on April 3, 2024.

On December 22, 2023, Wellington County OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on the Highway 89, North Wellington. It was reported that a black sedan had been involved in a collision and the driver had fled the scene on foot. As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old from Clifford, has been charged with Operation while Impaired, Refusal to Comply with Demand and Resist Peace Officer, contrary to the Criminal Code. Further, the driver was charged with Fail to Remain and Fail to Report Accident, contrary to the H.T.A. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of justice - Guelph, on January 12, 2024.

On December 22, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 30, Guelph/Eramosa. At approximately 11:00 p.m., the driver of a blue sedan was observed travelling well above the posted 80km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old driver from Fergus, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt - Excessive Speed, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on April 3, 2024.

On December 23, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Paisley Road, Guelph. At approximately 4:30 p.m., the driver of a grey sedan was observed travelling well above the posted 70km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old driver from Brampton, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt - Excessive Speed, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on April 3, 2024.

On December 23, 2023, members of the Wellington County OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. check on James Street, Salem. At approximately 7:00 p.m., the driver of a blue sedan entered the check. As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old from Orangeville, has been charged with Impaired Operation, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, on January 12, 2024.

On December 23, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. At approximately 8:15 p.m., the driver of a white S.U.V. was observed travelling well above the posted 80km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old driver from Brampton, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt - Excessive Speed and Pass on Right - Not in Safety, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on April 3, 2024.

On December 23, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. At approximately 9:00 p.m., the driver of a red S.U.V. was observed travelling well above the posted 70km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 66-year-old driver from Caledonia, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt - Excessive Speed, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on April 3, 2024.

On December 23, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 39, Guelph/Eramosa. At approximately 10:15 p.m., the driver of a black pickup truck was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old from Guelph/Eramosa, has been charged with Refusal to Comply with Demand, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of justice - Guelph, on January 12, 2024.

On December 24, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Tower Street South, Fergus. At approximately 7:30 p.m., the driver of a grey coupe was observed fishtailing. As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old driver from Fergus, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt and Drive Motor Vehicle - No Valid Permit, contrary to the H.T.A. Further, the driver was also charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance, contrary to the C.A.I.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on April 3, 2024.

On December 24, 2023, Wellington County OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on the Yatton Sideroad, Mapleton. It was reported that a grey sedan had rolled. As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old from Kitchener, has been charged with Operation while Impaired and Operation while Impaired (80 Plus), contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of justice - Guelph, on January 12, 2024.

On December 26, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Eramosa Road, Guelph. At approximately 9:30 a.m., a black S.U.V. was observed travelling well above the posted 50km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old driver from Toronto has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt - Excessive Speed and Driving while Under Suspension, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court - Guelph, on April 3, 2024.

*Anyone charged with Operation while Impaired - B.A.C. 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) or Failing to Comply with Demand receives a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment as per statute.

*Anyone charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt receives a 14-day impoundment and a 30-day driver's licence suspension as per statute.
