Youth charged in edged weapon attack in Fergus

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police say they have laid charges in an attack in Fergus that sent a victim to hospital.

Last Friday just before 7 p.m., the OPP responded to an assault with a weapon call on St. David Street.

One party was rushed to a local hospital after reportedly being attacked by a youth with an edged weapon, police said in a news release.

Police attended and arrested the attacker. The victim's injuries were considered non-life threatening.

Following an investigation, a 17-year-old of no fixed address was charged with Assault with a Weapon, Assault cause Bodily Harm, Possession of Weapons for Dangerous Purpose and Theft Under $5,000, contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused was held for bail.
