Hard-working dynamo finds real estate a natural fit

The pandemic spurred many people to make big changes in their lives. Count local REALTOR® Wendy Armstrong among them.

Armstrong successfully ran her own fitness training business for over 20 years. “The pandemic afforded me some unplanned downtime,” she says. It was during this time that she made the decision to pivot into real estate, so she signed up for the Humber College Real Estate Course.

Real estate requires you to work hard and have your phone with you 24/7. You have to be organized, but also enjoy the craziness. “Your day can change in a split second,” she says.

Luckily, real estate seems to be a natural fit, thanks to her continuous quest for success, her positive personality, her professional and entrepreneurial spirit, her passion for helping people, and her love for working in and promoting the community.

Real estate is much like personal training in that Armstrong can help others achieve their goals and feel a sense of accomplishment—something that has been at the core of her personal drive for all of her working life. “Every client connection I have is not just a business relationship but results in an entrusted bond that continues well after our business deal is complete,” she says.

It’s certainly an interesting time to be in real estate. She is surprised, she admits, by the prices that houses are being sold for. She can’t help but wonder if homes will ever go back to being priced where they should be and if offers will always be held.

Background

Armstrong grew up on the family farm, one of four children, in the small town of Erin, which she feels helped to foster her strong sense of ethics and integrity. She bought her first piece of property shortly after graduating from high school—something her dad encouraged. “I have a brother who is an electrician, so the entrepreneurial spirit runs in the family,” she says.

She spent many summer vacations and other holidays in Fergus and has fond memories of going to the outdoor pool.

Later she moved to and lived in Toronto, which broadened her perspective of urban community infrastructures and residential valuations.

Eventually she settled in Fergus to raise her family and has been a proud mother and community member ever since. Known to enjoy sports in every season, her love of the outdoors has her snowshoeing in the winter and cycling in the warmer months.

“I also love to dedicate as much spare time as possible to various local charities such as Hospice Wellington,” she says. “I work tirelessly to accomplish anything I set my mind to.” She has raised thousands of dollars for the Ride to Conquer Cancer.

“I am very family-oriented—love a family gathering,” she says. The REALTOR® has cousins and an aunt who live in the area and her two children have both bought homes in Fergus.

She loves live music, travelling, reading, theatre and golf, and has an adorable pug named Lucy.

Armstrong has always followed real estate. She spent years working in print advertising sales and during that time, the real estate sections of newspapers were huge. Wherever she lived, she enjoyed looking at them.

Says the agent, “I was looking for mentoring and a small group of people with a solid team approach. I have found that with Mochrie & Voisin Real Estate Group. We are a group of very knowledgeable, positive and energetic people who excel at meeting and exceeding our clients’ expectations.”

Wendy Armstrong represents both buyers and sellers in residential, leasing and commercial real estate. Send her an email or call her at (519) 994-0348.
