A few employees of Wellington Motor Freight have less hair following a recent fundraiser.

The team hosted a cancer awareness day last week where employees were invited to wear the colours of a cancer ribbon close to their heart.

Wellington Group of Companies said it would distribute donations based on those ribbons, but many staff members decided to get in on the fundraising to bump up the amount.

Chris West, vice-president of operations, even offered to shave his beard in any shape the staff wanted if donations passed $1,000.

Once that milestone was reached, two more employees, Alisha Reynolds and Chris Peters said they’d shave their heads if donations passed $5,000.

Since the ownership team offered to match all donations, Wellington Group of Companies ended up raising over $10,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society in just 24 hours.

"We’re so humbled to see our team come together and accomplish a goal for such a worthy cause," the company said on Instagram.
