In light of the recent Government of Ontario “Roadmap to Reopen” announcement, a three-step plan to safely and cautiously reopen the province, Grand River Raceway is preparing to begin Standardbred racing in accordance with Step One of the plan.

Grand River Raceway expects to begin the live racing season spectator-free starting Monday, June 14 but is prepared to accelerate the resumption sooner if the Government of Ontario enters Step One earlier than expected.

Based on the Roadmap, Step One is estimated to begin on Monday, June 14 although the timeline to this, and future movement through the three steps, is dependent on the daily decrease of COVID-19 case counts, lower hospitalization rates, and the percentage of vaccinated residents.

Live racing at Grand River Raceway will return to the regular schedule, with three race dates per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with a post time of 6:30 p.m. each evening.

Qualifying and Schooling races are scheduled for Wednesday, June 2 and Wednesday, June 9 at 10 a.m. Beginning Wednesday, June 16 and continuing for the remainder of the season, qualifying and schooling races will be scheduled every Wednesday at 2 p.m.

We at Grand River Raceway look forward to seeing the horses back out on the track very soon!
