March 7th, 1934 - November 15th, 2023

In his 90th year, Jim passed peacefully in his home, with his family at his side. Jim is survived by his second wife Shirley (Roberts) Brown, his children Karen (Brown) & the late Brian Innes, Ric Brown, Ellison Brown, Connie (Brown) Urquhart and his son-in law Ross Urquhart. His brother and sister in law, John & Donna Morden, and many Morden nieces and nephews.

Jim was a special grandfather to Chad & Stef Innes, Elliott & Tiffany Innes, Aaron & Tabitha (Urquhart) Lindsay, James Urquhart and Haley Brown. He was also lucky enough to be a great grandfather to Micaiah, Shaylee, Nora and Lanae Innes, Glenn & Evie Innes and Oliver Lindsay.

Jim was born in Toronto, an only child to the late Earl & Gladys (Baker) Brown. The family subsequently moved to Shelburne, where he spent his childhood and youth. After marrying his first wife, the late Glenna (Morden) Clunas , they moved to Harriston, Wiarton and then settled in Bramalea, where he spent more than forty years, before moving to Belwood Lake and finally to Guelph. He built an admirable career that spanned over 50 years as a Procurement Manager with Canada Packers and later as a Consultant for Gordon Food Services. At Canada Packers he met Shirley, and was married for 42 years.

Family was undoubtedly the cornerstone of Jim's life and that will continue to thrive throughout his family. We have been enriched by the countless, joyous Thanksgivings, Christmases, Birthdays and Holidays we have shared as a Family, moments that have deeply impacted each of us.

Jim was an ardent supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays. He was happiest when spending time in his garden, fishing, golfing or just being busy. Jim was never one to sit idle, unless it was while he was reading the newspaper from front to back, every single day.

The family would like to issue a very special thank you to Susan Schaufle, his personal support worker. Her time, energy and friendship to dad were a real blessing while living at Guelph Lake Commons.

At this time we will not be holding a formal memorial service, however you are welcome to leave your thoughts and memories here or at [email protected]. Should anyone wish, please make donations to the West Park Healthcare Centre.
