November 30, 1934 – July 5, 2023

Peacefully on Wednesday July 5, 2023 at Trinity Village Care Centre in Kitchener at the age of 88 years.
Rose was the dear mother of Doug and his wife Carol, Diane, Mike and his wife Heather, and Steve and his wife Boni, and her son-in-law Ren Dunn. Loving grandmother of Chris, Ben (Nichole), Aaron, Tricia, Sarah and Andrew (Laura). Great-grandmother of Brynn. Sadly missed by her brother Richard Martsch (Susan). Rose will be missed by many nieces and nephews and other extended family. Predeceased by her husband John, her daughter Marianne, her parents Rudolf Martsch and Mary (Martin) Martsch, her brothers Arthur Martsch (Shirley) and William Martsch and her step-mother Eva Martsch.

While raising five children, she found time to be a reliable community and church volunteer. She was also active in the Catholic Women’s League. She was an avid gardener with a green thumb for her flowers and plants. She excelled at cooking and baking and enjoyed sharing that with everyone. She enjoyed sewing. She especially loved spending time with family. Despite the challenges of the last few years, she always found joy in nature’s beauty and she continued to enjoy her music.

The family would like thank the staff at Chartwell Retirement Home Elmira and Trinity Village Care Centre Kitchener, for the care and compassion provided to Rose during her stays with them. The family will receive their friends at the GRAHAM A. GIDDY FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 617 King St. N. Waterloo (across from Home Depot) from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday July 13, 2023. Visitation will take place again on Friday July 14, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Fr. Brian Quigley officiating. Reception to follow in the Wellington Room of the funeral home. Interment in St. Clements R.C Cemetery. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
